Sinda Abattoir & Feedlot

Empowering Local Livelihoods Through World-Class Infrastructure

Background & Vision

In response to Zambia’s strategic push to grow its livestock industry and expand regional meat exports, we are establishing a modern solar-powered abattoir and integrated feedlot in Sinda, Eastern Province. This initiative serves as a catalyst for inclusive market access, economic empowerment, and sustainable livestock development across the region.

World-Class Infrastructure

Processing Capacity: The abattoir has the capacity to process 50 cattle and 50 goats or sheep per day.

Sustainable Power: The facility is powered by a 185kWp solar energy system, generating up to 924kWh daily.

Regional Impact: Situated on land leased from the Chewa Development Trust, the project addresses the absence of a mature livestock market in Eastern Province.

Beyond meat production, this project embraces circular agriculture and climate-smart practices:

Organic Fertilizer: Pouch content and blood are processed through composting tunnels and air-dried to create organic fertilizer for local crop production.

Soil Health: Manure from the feedlot is used as organic fertilizer to improve soil health.

Biodiversity: Rotational grazing practices maintain healthy landscapes and promote biodiversity for climate sustainability.

Project Timeline
Construction commenced in early 2025, with operations expected to begin by the end of the year.

We aim to launch a fully operational feedlot by 2026, focusing on purchasing steers from local farmers to strengthen the livestock value chain.
